CABO SAN LUCAS FISHING REPORT - APRIL 2017

April 2017 Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report, Spring to Summer forecast

COLD WATER BUT SIGNS OF LIFE AND HOPES FOR BETTER FISHING!
Continued from home page
Fishing has been challenging to say the least. There has been no Dorado for months and I am receiving reports today that the wahoo and yellowfin tuna have begun to show north of the Gorda Banks in small numbers and they are looking for the Sardines. This is good news to the fishermen as we have been working it to make it happen and it has been tough!

April started out with a bang, 3 to 5 striped marlin per boat per day and then nothing. The striped marlin are being spotted on the water and full of squid. There is squid everywhere so they don’t seem to be interested in anything we present them. Our last big day for the striped marlin was April 15 when Dallas and Kim Austin caught and released 4 striped marlin onboard the “Minerva III”.

Right after this trip is when the water began to turn green and we began to see and hookup to Swordfish which are rare around here. The Swordfish are being spotted on the surface of the water and are taking the local “caballito” bait but most of the live bait hookups on the Swordfish are losing the fight after an hour or so due to the fact that the line is the favorite 40lb test casting line. This creature is pure power and the longer the fight the more it goes in favor of the fish.

On the 19 of April onboard the “Minerva II” Ulysses and Sandee Bell were fortunate enough to hook up to a 150 pound Swordfish on live bait five miles outside of Gorda Banks. Ulysses fought the Swordfish for about an hour and a half and finally landed it with a steady hand. We have posted on our website, www.minervas.com the pictures for your enjoyment. The sunshine is great the beer is cold, the food is wonderful and what could be better than being on the water, in the water or near the water!!!! Come fish Cabo San Lucas with Minerva’s!

Yellow Fin Tuna - November, 2015 Cabo
Mini & Bob, Thanks for the successful fishing experience. Pimi and Damion got us on to big tuna and handled the boat and tackle flawlessly. Sorry I missed you at the store and look forward to fishing with Minerva's again.

The O’Donnell family from Anchorage, Alaska could not be contained this year. Look at the pictures! It’s impressive! Besides tuna what is this family eating! This is a family of fishermen who among other things are the manufacturers of LICKETY SPLIT LURES!

Every year our group looks forward to visiting our friends at Minerva’s with great anticipation of hooking up on good fish and having a great time out on the water. Over the course of the years the crews at Minerva’s have become more than just captains and crew to us, they have become our friends. Tell everyone hello for us and we cannot wait to get back next year (hopefully we can repeat that awesome sushi dinner at Koi).
