UNREAL STRIPED MARLIN BITE GREETS IGFA REP. MIKE MYATT AND
MARLIN MAGAZINE'S DAN JACOBS

A happy group aboard the Minerva
V after a 15 Striped Marlin release day!!
FROM DAN JACOBS OF MARLIN MAGAZINE
Hi Minerva,
I hope this note finds you and Bob doing well. It was great
to finally spend some social time with you. Thanks for everything
you do and congratulations on your IGFA Conservation award.
The day I spent with Jacob and Carlos on the Minerva V was
fantastic. Right from the start the boys were friendly,
good spirited and ready to do what they could to give us
a great fishing experience. Bob did a great job getting
the boat ready. It was fast, comfortable and had everything
we needed to catch fish. When we came aboard the crew let
us know we could go as far as the finger bank. Since this
was Mike Myatt’s first striped marlin trip we could
hardly contain our joy after hearing the news. As you know
luck was on our side and we found good numbers of fish off
Pescadores well short of the banks. We chased one pod of
fish to the next getting 20 shots and releasing 15. The
crew shared in the excitement as we continued to bond as
the day went on. I know it’s easy to have a good time
when catching fish but I could tell Jacob and Carlos would
do what they could like breaking out the circle hooks, putting
on new leaders and pulling off any chaffed line. Other things
I noticed are they made sure the bait was taken care of
and they allowed me to-do everything myself including wiring
one of the fish. It is these types of touches that differentiate
a good crew from an average crew. What it all boils down
to is communication and attitude.
Thank you so much for the experience Minerva. I feel blessed
to have been in Cabo during the epic striped marlin bite
and have a friend like you to put me on it!
I attached a few photos Mario took during our day. I don’t
think I have showed that many teeth since my daughter birth.
Have a great week. Talk with you soon.

The action was hot with a WIDE-OPEN Striped Marlin bite
at Pescaderos off Baja.
FROM MIKE MYATT - IGFA CORPORATE RELATIONS DIRECTOR AND
DIRECTOR OF THE IGFA OFFSHORE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
Hey Minnie,
It was the hottest marlin bite I’d ever been part
of and thanks to the great crew of the Minerva 5, Captain
Jacob Rodriguez and mate Carlos Rodriguez we were able to
catch and release 15 striped marlin. I was fishing with
my good friends Dan Jacobs from Marlin Magazine and Mario
Bananga who shot these great photos. Minerva and Bob not
only have Cabo’s finest tackle shop, but the crews
and boats to make it happen! Thanks again!”

of 15 Striped Marlin caught on their recent trip aboard
the Minerva V out of Minerva's Baja Tackle and Sportfishing.

There
is no better way to keep the Striped Marlin bite as hot
as it is in the waters off Los Cabos...... RELEASE THEM!!!
Thanks Mike and Dan, as well as our talented crew, for doing
the right thing with 15 released Striped Marlin. |
